REFUGE SPONSORSHIP UPDATE
Calvary United has established a Refugee Sponsorship Committee, the purpose of which is to pursue the sponsorship of a family in the near future.      The Committee has been looking specifically at refugees from Syria. However, we are presently waiting for a government vetted list of eligible applicants which has been delayed since October 2013.   Our committee is sending a letter to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, expressing our concern and urging the government to act promptly. Further to this letter, the congregation will be given the opportunity to send letters to our MP, Mr. Randy Hoback, asking for his help in obtaining a list of families eligible for sponsorship.

Opportunities to assist in the process will be varied: financial assistance, gifts in kind (e.g. good used furniture, household items, etc.), as well as giving of your time and talents. Individuals and church committees are invited to consider ideas aimed at supporting this refugee sponsorship initiative. Anyone wishing to make a cash donation should make their cheque out to Calvary United Church, clearly marking it “Refugee Sponsorship”. You will be kept informed as we go through the process. So please stay tuned!
